Homemade Pizza

Pizza is undoubtedly one of the tastiest (and messiest) foods till date. Pizza is a savory food, originated from Italy which typically consist of a round flat based dough which are usually topped with peppers, tomatoes and cheese with other assortment of toppings such as meat, onions (pineapple is my favorite topping) among many others.

The pizza would then be baked at a high temperature in an oven until cooked well.

Ingredients!

There are four main ingredients used to making a modern pizza. They are:

1) The crust

2) The sauce

3) The cheese

4) The toppings

Crust!

If you want to make the crust by hand, all you have to do is have water, wheat and yeast and knead them within 10 minutes or until the mass of the crust becomes evenly mixed together.

Sauce!

Most sauces in pizzas are generally tomato based sauces with added spices and herbs. There are a variety of sauces, but it is advisable to have thicker sauces, as sauce that contains too much water can damage the consistency of the crust. Thicker sauces holds toppings much better.

Cheese!

Cheese is used on most pizzas which makes it a very likeable topping. There are a variety of cheeses that can be used as a pizza topping, although mozzarella cheese and Parmesan cheese (Parmesan with other cheeses mixed together) are mostly used in modern pizzas.

Toppings!

There are a variety of toppings used, depending on what topping you want to put on the pizza. The toppings range from meats such as chicken and beef to vegetables such as onions and carrots. They also range from herbs and spices such as thyme and garlic to nuts such as peanuts. Seafood is also a popular topping to add such as salmon and tuna to more sweeter and unique toppings such as chocolate and marshmallows.

How to make a tasty homemade pizza with steps!

1) With an average sized bowl that has been lightly coated with oil (any oil that doesn't burn fast would do), add warm water, dry yeast and sugar together.

- In a separate bowl, add flour and salt.

2) In the flour and salt mixture, make a big hole or a well in the middle of the mixture and add the yeast (first mixture) The yeast would then foam. Using a fork, mix the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients together.

3) As the dough starts to form together, use your hands and knead it for a few minutes on a board (that has sprinkles of flour on it). Using your wrists, you push the dough down, forward and repeat.

4) Put the kneaded dough in a bowl that has been oiled lightly and cover it with a plastic wrap allow it to double in size by rising before checking to see if it is ready.

5) After checking the dough and seeing that it has risen well enough, divide the dough with a knife to smaller pieces. Smaller pieces are usually done in homemade pizzas. From the pieces you cut, form them into smaller balls for your pizza and cover them with a damp cloth. When the balls are soft, they are ready to be rolled out!

6) When they are ready, add a dash of flour on a pizza pan and place one of the balls you cut earlier on top of it. Using a rolling pin, you even out the dough, making sure the center is thin.

7) Add cheese and other toppings you desire and pop the pizza to an oven and bake it. Depending on the temperature, for example, cooking at 350°F would take between 15 and 20 minutes on a typical electric stove with an oven attached to it.

Anyhow, when the crust is golden brown and some of the bits of cheese are overcooked, you got yourself a delicious good looking pizza 🍕!

Note :Repeat the steps for the other kneaded balls and add different toppings for different tastes!
