'Parfait' meaning perfect in French is a dessert originated from France although there are two major forms of parfait. The France version of parfait is made by boiling cream, sugar, syrup and egg to create a form of custard - like puree. The American version has different layers of ingredients such as yogurt, nuts and so on, with fruits or whipped cream on top. I will teach you one of the American versions of parfait.
Ingredients!
Yogurt (preferably sweetened yogurt. If you do not have sweetened yogurt, you would have to add sugar to the yogurt.)
Crushed almonds or crushed dates
Crushed coconut (this is optional if you don't like coconut)
Crushed granolas (or any other sweet nuts)
Diced apples
Diced watermelon (the sweet juicy red part)
Diced bananas
A strawberry, a grape or a cherry (for the top of the parfait)
How to make Sweet Homemade Yogurt Parfait with steps!
1) Dice all the fruit (except for the coconut and the fruit you chose to out on top of the finished parfait e.g. cherry) into small portions and out then in the refrigerator to keep cool.
2) For the coconut, slice them and blend them to get some chip like portions. Quickly heat them for a few minutes to get a slightly crunchy taste (you can use a pan or simply microwave it).
3) Get a tall glass and add three full spoons of frozen yogurt. If it is not sweetened, add sugar to it.
4) Add half of the diced apples, bananas, watermelon, almond/dates and granola.
5) Add more yogurt on top.
6) Add the other half of the diced fruits and put all of the coconut chips there as toppings.
7) Finally put the cherry/strawberry/grape on top!
And now you have your sweet homemade yogurt parfait! Enjoy it! You deserve it!
