Exotic Chapman Mocktail
The mocktail that can satisfy you even without the alcoholic content, Chapman is a popular drink in West Africa, especially in Nigeria. It is a refreshing and tasty drink because it has all of those chunks of fruit in it. This drink is suitable for any occasion when you learn the perfect party drink with this recipe!
Chapman is a non alcoholic drink, typically red or pink in color. Sometimes it is called the 'non alcoholic punch' and it is normally mixed with fanta, sprite, grenadine syrup, angostura bitters, lemon and cucumber. It is especially described as Nigeria's favorite drink and it is said to originated in the Ikoyi Club in Lagos, Nigeria.
This version of Chapman is a Chapman mocktail, meaning that there is no alcohol in it. The bitter contained in this recipe is about a teaspoon, which isn't enough to make the drink alcoholic, and it is better to use the bitters to balance out the sweetness from other ingredients. If you still want to tone down the bitters, just add an extra 1-2 teaspoons of fresh lime juice.
Ingredients!
4 cups of Fanta or Miranda
4 cups of Sprite or 7up
6 tablespoons of either Grenadine syrup, Zobo syrup or Ribena (the blackcurrant flavour)
1 tablespoon of either Angostura bitters, Alomo bitters or Campari
1 medium sized cucumber, sliced
4 lime, orange or lemon and cut it into quarters
Mint leaves
1 tray of lime/lemon soda ice cubes (about 10-15 cubes)
How to make Exotic Chapman Mocktail
1) Prepare the lime/lemon soda ice cubes before you make the mocktail by freezing any lime/lemon soda of your choice in an ice cube tray (e.g. Sprite).
2) In a jug, add orange soda, lime/lemon soda, grenadine syrup and angostura bitters. Stir the mixture well.
3) Add the cucumber slices and lemon/lime/orange quarters to the mixture.
4) Garnish the mixture with mint leaves and pour the Chapman into the glasses. Put in the fruit slices and add it with a straw.
