Soupe à l'oignon

French Onion Soup is a starter soup usually based on meat stick and onions and is often served with a larger piece of bread covered with cheese floating on top. The modern version of this amazing soup is originated in Paris, France in the 18th century using beef broth and caramelized onions.
Ingredients!
1) Either 2 very large onions or 4-5 small onions
2) 6 slices of baguette /bread
3) A lot of grated cheese (preferably Gruyère)
4) Beef Broth
5) Oil
6) Pepper
7) Salt
How to make Soupe à l'oignon
1) Peel and slice the onions into very thin slices
2) Grab a pen and add just enough oil, but not too much oil. Put onions in and cook until sliced onions are either glassy or yellow.
3) Place onions in a large pot and cover with plenty of meat stock, salt and pepper. Cover and cook at low heat for about 45 minutes.
4) While that is taking place, fry or toast bread slices in the pan with the oil until crispy.
5) When the onion are cooked, take the onions out of the broth with a passing spoon and put them into a fireproof dish. Then layer the grated cheese and slices of bread on top of the onions. The last layer should be of bread, onto which some cheese is grated.
6) Now pour the broth into the dish, but only up to the last layer of bread. If necessary, season again.
7) Bake the onion soup in the oven for ten minutes and serve hot!
And voila! Your soupe à l'oignon is ready to be eaten! Enjoy!
